Our Mission
CBA Model United Nations is a student-led organization focused on diplomacy, public speaking, international relations, and leadership. Throughout the year, members develop their skills through conferences, research, committee sessions, and discussions of current global issues. A major part of the CBA MUN experience is ColtsMUN, our annual conference for middle school students. Rather than participating as delegates, CBA students take on leadership roles as chairs, directors, and staff, helping plan and run the conference from start to finish. Through both participating in Model UN and leading others, CBA MUN provides students with opportunities to build confidence, collaborate, think critically, and become informed and effective leaders.
FAQs
-
Model United Nations (MUN) is a competitive learning simulation where students, or delegates, represent countries or characters and discuss global issues. Participants build important skills like public speaking, communication, negotiation, and research. MUN improves understanding of international relations, boosts analytical skills, and encourages advocacy. This experience fosters teamwork and helps young leaders voice their views on important topics like climate change, human rights, and security, contributing to a politically informed youth.

We are always excited to welcome new members to the CBA Model United Nations team. No prior experience is required—students of all grade levels and experience levels are encouraged to join.

Whether you are interested in public speaking, international affairs, leadership, or simply trying something new, CBA Model UN offers opportunities for every student to learn, grow, and succeed. -
Model UN is a flexible activity that students can be involved in to varying degrees. In addition to our informational meetings on our website to practice public speaking, debate, and to prepare for upcoming conferences, members may spend time outside of class researching a country, committee, and topic that pertains to the conference. Because of the nature of Model UN, we allow students to choose which conferences to attend and allow for as much involvement as students are able to commit to throughout the year. In general, we try to make Model UN as easy to participate in as possible in order to allow for involvement in activities such as sports, other clubs, school and outside activities. However, the more one is involved in Model UN, the more opportunities there are to gain experience, to compete against other schools, and to get more involved in the club.

Model United Nations helps students develop a wide range of valuable academic, leadership, and communication skills. Through research, debate, and collaboration, delegates strengthen their public speaking, critical thinking, writing, and problem-solving abilities while gaining a deeper understanding of global issues and current events.
Students often see benefits beyond the conference itself, as the skills developed through MUN can improve performance in history, English, social studies, and other classroom settings. Delegates also learn how to work effectively with others, think from multiple perspectives, and confidently present their ideas.
By participating in Middle MUN, students build a strong foundation for success in college and future professional environments, setting them apart as informed, engaged, and capable leaders.

Throughout the year, CBA Model UN attends various conferences hosted by universities and select high schools across the country. In the 2025-2026 year, students attended RutgersMUN (RUMUN), Boston University MUN (BOSMUN), and EagleMUNC.

No. Many of our strongest delegates joined the club with little public speaking experience. Model UN is a place to learn and grow. Whether you're naturally outgoing or more reserved, the club provides a supportive environment to build confidence, find your voice, and improve your communication skills over time.
